New ventures on the horizon -
I believe it is time to retire ye old blogspot. Fresh design and concepts are coming to mind since my jaunt overseas. We are working on a new strategy as far as appeal, content, and have an etsy store in the works as well. Please stay tuned, kids.

Truckin'.
I saw this in one of my magazines, and I'm now obsessed with the idea. What say you, Charleston and New Orleans? Fashion on wheels? We already have tons of food trucks here...so why not? I'm already imagining a melange of niche trucks--maybe even one with clothing for busty broads like me, or a consignment-only vehicle. Think how amazing it would be, to find one on a street corner right when you're bored with the evening's attire. Presto! Grab-and-go couture.
Have a great week, lassies!

Vintage Fashion Show.
Last night Stefan and I went to a fairly unusual event--a vintage fashion show at our neighborhood watering hole! The Tin Roof, a bar commonly known for hard rock acts and cheap booze, decided to clear the path by the bar for a few lovely models to showcase the frocks of Runaround Sue Vintage.
The proceeds went to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society of Charleston, and the first 50 people through the door--me included!--got awesome goodie bags with coupons for coffee, pampering at local spas, and an ink pen shaped like a tube of lipstick.
Check out some of our photos below.
Have a happy Monday AAWT Fans!

Blogging for Beauty.
I'm excited to share my new blogging opportunity with Misiu Beauty, a Charleston-based makeup line created by international makeup artist Andrew C. Petersen. The name Misiu is a Polish term for "something held close to the heart."
Andrew and I initially met when I interviewed him for Charleston Style & Design last year. We've decided to collaborate on this beauty blog, which will be unveiled next month during Charleston Fashion Week as part of a new online magazine in the area!
Meanwhile, check out the Misiu website for the aptly-named products, inspired by life in Charleston.

how to destroy angels.
Kind of obsessed. Sorry i missed the trendy wagon when this ish hit the scene.. i have a lot going on, i'm a busy gal. But a NIN fan like myself should have known about this. Trent Reznor's new band How To Destroy Angels is composed of himself, long time music mate Atticus Ross, & his lovely wife, Mariqueen Maandig of West Indian Girl- another fact that I just recently discovered. I'm a bit behind, forgive me. Enjoy y'all. It's extremely solid.
Rupert Sanders did an amazing job directing the video. Although it teeters the edge of twisted, the cinematography is fantastic. Greig Fraser's artistic style is what one might expect if David Lynch & Wes Anderson shared a joint then did some sort of a creepy mash-up. And on that same note, one should expect no less from Reznor himself. Download the 6 track HTDA EP for free here.

thankfully crafted.
Thank goodness for Denise! She's been keeping up w/ AAWT as i run around like a crazy. So much has been happening.. despite a brief, unwelcomed sickness, le tourbillon de la vie didn't stop for me. Photoshoots to rebuild my portfolio for Munich Models continued, as well as job duties for an event i agreed to cater {& decorate}. Needless to say, i am pooped.
Here's the latest project i've been doing at home. All it takes is some blank paper, twine, & coffee - you can use fresh or old 'n cold.

Soak the twine & paper for a few hours, or you can certainly soak it overnight if your paper is a heavier card stock. Remove & pat w/ a cloth, setting out on top of paper towels to dry. I'm using mine to make twine strung thank you notes to hang around wine bottles for those who have helped us w/ our move to Germany.
Now, i'm off to get a post together for Casa De Lola, my other blogging space i've neglected for quite some time.

Mama Pajama!
Apparently, it has become socially acceptable to wear your pj's in public. And nope, I don't mean for the random night time run to the gas station or the drug store. I mean anytime. Today makes two full-length pieces that I've encountered on the chic-factor of sleepwear. When I first read the article about this new trend on Slate.com, I thought to myself Well Slate is pretty quirky. Whatever.
But the next thing I knew, Vogue published something about it! See the link below for yourself.
What do you think readers? Would you wear your pajamas all day long?
I don't know about you, but I'm putting on jeans and lipstick when I leave the house, and leaving my furry pants for the sofa.
Happy Weekend!

busy.
So so busy around here. Jorge managed to get a really awesome shot of me before leaving for Germany & i wanted to share. For it to have been so spur of the moment, it is quite book worthy.
I have more shoots planned so that my new portfolio is Munich ready. Having dyed my hair, restyled/cut it so many times & not updated my photos since the beginning of culinary school, truth be told, i'm a little behind. This playing catch up thing sure is is time consuming. Hope you all are well. Big kiss. JM

The Royal American.
Last night I experienced one of Charleston's newest bars, The Royal American. As the latest member of the Rev Restaurant Group, (home of Monza, Taco Boy and other tasty institutions) this place has a lot to live up to. So far, so good.
The place has a chic but dive-y feel, complete with a list of cheap beers that you can't get elsewhere in Charleston. I started last night with a crisp apple cider, perfect for the (few) chilly nights but I was also tempted to try the bourbon punch and the cinnamon whiskey. The music was played from a collection of vinyls, some warped but still having that so-good sound. And don't miss the collection of vintage National Geographic magazines in the corner, in case you're having a drink alone.
The Royal American is just getting started, so stay tuned for them to finish their modest menu of cheeseburgers and chili in a few weeks. But if you're looking for fancy food, this won't be your stop. It's mainly a cozy location to have cocktails and meet new friends in a glow of bar lights.
Welcome to Charleston, Royal American.
